Chisholm Trail Heritage Center
At the site of the Chisholm Trail Heritage Center, you'll learn that the route was developed to bring cattle to the east after the Civil War. When the Union and Confederate forces depleted the meat supply in the east, poor ranchers in Texas needed a way to meet the new demand, and the Chisholm Trail was born.
The site's information area tells this story and offers photographs and links to other online resources. Glimpses of the museum's exhibits are accompanied by short essays on various topics, including the trail's namesake, Jesse Chisholm.
