Which museum houses the largest collection in the nation of plaster casts of major architectural works?
The Hall of Architecture in the Carnegie Museum of Art contains the largest collection of architectural casts in America, and is the third largest in the world. In Rome, people from as early as the 4th century believed replicas to be far better than the originals. Because copies are viewed in a more negative context now, many collections have been destroyed, but the Hall of Architecture is one of the few major ones still remaining.
