What was the first successful airplane?
On Dec. 17, 1903, the Wright 1903 Flyer became the first successful airplane. Brothers Orville and Wilbur Wright piloted the plane several times that day. Orville was the first to fly the plane successfully, but Wilbur piloted the longest flight of the day: it was 260 meters and lasted 59 seconds.
