Where can I learn about the Gold Rush?
Beginning in 1848, thousands of men, women and children packed up their belongings and headed to California to strike it rich.
Now the Oakland Museum of California honors and celebrates their lives with Gold Rush! California's Untold Stories, an exhibit marking the sesquicentennial of the Gold Rush.
For those who missed it on its journey around the state, the exhibit remains online. It provides extensive historical insight into the birth of California, complete with photos, narratives and modern artwork inspired by the Gold Rush.
